Fishing Guide Rates

Guiding Western Long Island Sound since 1989, Connecticut Island Outfitters specializes in salt water fly fishing, and light tackle fishing, along the shorelines and islands of Western Long Island Sound.  The many reefs and rips that form along these tidal areas offer prime fly casting to Striped Bass, Bluefish, and other species depending on the season, such as False Albacore and Bonito.  Acres of skinny flats offer anglers the opportunity to sight-cast to fish in as little as a foot of water, and draw ferocious strikes off the surface.

Our Charter season begins in May and continues steadily through November, 7 days a week.  High quality, top brand tackle is provided for salt water fly fishing or a light tackle fishing adventure, but we encourage you to bring your favorite rod/reel combo. An 8 or a 9 weight fly rod is best, and sinking lines are the most productive.  Call for advice regarding the best line for the conditions you will be fishing.

There is plenty of storage for your gear, so be sure to pack sunglasses and sunscreen, a jacket, camera, and a snack.  There is a cooler with ice for your drinks, and complimentary bottled water on board.

Half Tide (4 hours): $450  for 1 - 2 anglers, $500 for 3 - 4 anglers

Full Tide (6 hours): $550 for 1 - 2 anglers, $600 for 3 - 4 anglers

Maximum of 4 passengers. Rates include top brand fly & light tackle gear, ice & bottled water; available 7 days a week.  Or, for a custom trip or event please call.

Our Conservation Policy :  Due to overfishing, all Striped Bass are Catch & Release only a with as minimal trauma possible. Pictures are allowed with minimal out-of-water time. The future of our favorite gamefish depends on your cooperation. Other species may be harvested within state regulations. Thank you.

New for June 2020, Scooter fishing

What is scooter fishing?

Just what is sounds like. We ride scooters to a variety of serene shore fishing locations off the Fairfield County coastline.

For anglers who enjoy fishing on foot or are not quite ready to charter a guide boat, here is a fun and economical way to explore the shoreline on a guided tour.  You might wade acres of shallow sandy flats in pursuit of your quarry Caribbean style.  Or, search an estuary or jetty for prowling gamefish. You may like to surf cast plugs in anticipation of a surface attack, or delight in the jolt of a taught fly line. Bring your favorite rig, however quality fly or surf gear is available if you prefer to travel light.

Why Scooters?

  1. 50cc mopeds (considered motorized bicycles), are easy to ride and easy to park at beaches or locations where full-sized vehicles are not allowed or require residency permits.

  2. They are quiet and comfortable, and no special license is required, just a valid drivers’ license.

  3. They are extremely eco-friendly with very low emissions and $2 in gas goes nearly 100 miles!

  4. They provide the option to fish more than one location during a tour, or add a little sight seeing for visitors.

  5. Most of all, they’re fun! No gears to shift, no pedals, just twist and go. A cool way to get to the fish.

Pricing: $225 for a morning tour (4-5 hours), one angler.

Our mini moped “fleet” can accommodate up to two anglers and guide for $300. Tours are available Sunday through Friday. Call for more information or for reservations.
