CIO specializes in fly fishing and light tackle fishing, primarily in shallow water, along the coast and islands
of western Long Island Sound.
On an incoming tide, you may drift over acres of flats casting to fish in as little as
a foot of water. On an ebb tide, you might be swinging your flyline into tidal rips that form over the many reefs and
bars in the area.
These rips are prime fly-casting opportunities for Stripers, Blues, and other species
depending on the season, such as shad in the spring, and Bonito and False Albacore in late summer/early fall.
The nearby islands and surrounding flats also offer excellent spin-casting and provide
light tackle anglers the opportunity to hook fish in shallow water and on the surface.
High quality, top brand tackle is provided for fly fishing and light tackle angling,
but you are encouraged to bring your favorite rig. Bring an 8 or 9 weight fly rod with a sinking, or intermediate sinking
line. Better yet, bring an interchangable system of heads to adapt to the varying depths and tides.
Ther is ample storage for you to bring additional gear, which should include sunscreen,
glasses, jackets, cameras, snacks and nautical footwear.
Bottled water, ice, and a cooler are provided.
